Sharpi as an Entertainer
From a young age, my passion for singing and performing was sparked by the vibrant Motown scene in Detroit. I honed my skills in church choirs and high school glee clubs, eventually serving as a worship leader for many years. Upon relocating to Arizona, friends and coworkers encouraged me to pursue singing more seriously, prompting me to explore jam sessions and local music opportunities. This exploration ignited my journey as a performer, and now I find myself singing on stages across the city. Every performance brings a sense of joy and fulfillment, reaffirming my lifelong love for music and the power it holds to connect us all. Today, I embrace each moment on stage, grateful for the path that has led me here.
My Design Story
My journey into fashion designing began with the inspiring influences of my mother and grandmother, both of whom attended the same design school and learned under the same instructor as I did. Growing up, my mother crafted beautiful clothing for my sisters and me, nurturing my skills and creativity. For over 55 years, I've not only designed fabulous creations but also worked in visual displays, showcasing my passion daily. My nickname, "Sharpi," has an amusing origin; it was given to me by dear friends of their daughters who used to call me Barb Sharp, a nod to my always being dressed to impress—something that remains true today. I cherish the joy of constant creation, and I owe a great deal to my parents for encouraging me to pursue my artistic gifts.
